5 signs your website is costing you customers

Your website is often the first impression a potential customer gets of your business. If that first impression is slow, confusing or unprofessional, most visitors will quietly disappear — and you'll never know they were there.

1. It takes more than 3 seconds to load. Google's own data shows that the chance of a visitor bouncing increases by 32% when load time goes from 1 to 3 seconds. Compress your images, drop unused scripts, and choose decent hosting.

2. It looks broken on a phone. Over 70% of local searches happen on mobile. If your text is tiny, your buttons overlap or your menu is unusable on a phone, you're sending paying customers straight to a competitor.

3. It's not clear what you do in the first 5 seconds. Visitors scan, they don't read. Your headline should make it obvious what you offer, who it's for and where you operate.

4. There's no clear next step. Every page needs an obvious call to action — call, WhatsApp, book, quote. Don't make people hunt.

5. There's no proof. Reviews, photos of real work, recognisable client logos and a real address build trust in seconds.

Fix these five and you'll usually see enquiries climb within the first month — no extra ad spend required.
